Senior Environmental Engineer / Geoscientist

GEMTEC has continued to see sustained growth in the environmental services group in Atlantic Canada. As a result, we have an immediate opening for a full-time Senior Environmental Engineer / Geoscientist operating out of the Moncton, New Brunswick office. The ideal candidate will have a wide-range of experience, ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and possess strong technical, leadership, communication and business development skills.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Client Management
  • Project Management including development and maintenance of project scopes, schedules and budgets and coordination of staff
  • Senior review of technical documents as Approving Professional Engineer / Geoscientist
  • Interpretation of environmental regulations and investigation results to successfully meet the clientís requirements
  • Identify markets / potential clients, prepare responses to Requests for Proposals / Standing Offers and prepare routine proposals
  • Spill response and experience working on federal government contaminated sites is considered an asset
  • Prepare reports as required and provide field assistance, as necessary to meet client needs
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelorís or Masterís degree from an accredited institution
  • Registered Professional (e.g., P.Eng., P.Geo)
  • 10 + years experience in contaminated sites work
  • Ability to present technical information, both written and verbally, in a concise and professional manner
  • Previous business development, project management and technical review experience
  • Demonstrated capability to mentor and develop junior and intermediate staff

Senior Civil Engineer

GEMTEC Limited is actively seeking a senior civil engineer to help shape the future of the engineering group at our Moncton location. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to generate new and innovative ways to approach consulting engineering. Roles and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will work in several areas of civil, geotechnical and materials engineering and will play an active role in management and business development.

  • Provide guidance and support to a team of engineers, technicians and technologists on project related matters;
  • Provide support to the geotechnical and materials divisions;
  • Prepare detailed proposals, scope of work and budget estimates for civil engineering projects;
  • Client management and consultation as required to manage projects and assist in the development of a client base;
  • Participation in developing and growing a team of scientists, technicians and engineers;
  • Preparation/review of contract specifications, tender documents and engineering drawings as required to facilitate successful project completion;
  • Project management including budgeting, scheduling and managing scope of work.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Currently registered or has the ability to register with a professional association (P.Eng.) in one or all of the Atlantic provinces;
  • Bachelorís Degree in civil engineering or related field from an accredited University;
  • A minimum of 10 years of applicable experience in engineering consulting; exceptional individuals with lesser experience or in a related field (industry, academia, etc.) may also be considered;
  • Bilingual considered an asset;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;

  • Experience in construction methodologies.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will work in several areas of the environmental engineering field; depending on qualifications, project-related work may be in some or all of the following areas: phased environmental site assessments, human health risk assessment (Atlantic RBCA), ecological risk assessment, soil and groundwater remediation, designated substance surveys, hydrogeological studies and/or compliance audits. Some background in Environmental Impact Assessment would be considered an asset. Specifically, day-to-day tasks would include:

  • Preparation of technical reports and proposals;
  • Client management and business development;
  • Project management;
  • Field work including drill supervision and sampling;
  • Provide direction to contractors on environmental projects;
  • Participation in developing and growing a team of environmental scientists, technicians and engineers;
  • Provide support on projects managed at other GEMTEC office locations.
